World-Fest at Silver Dollar City

Silver Dollar City theme park in Branson, MO kicks off their 2014 season with the popular World-Fest international festival.   The festival runs April 5 – May 4, 2014 with new entertainment and tastes as well as some favorites from previous years’ festivals.

BeniseGuitarNew this year is Emmy Award winning Benise, who will take park guests on a fiery tour of Latin music including Spanish Flamenco, Cuban Salsa, and Brazilian Samba. Benise and his guitar are accompanied by a live orchestra and a troupe of dancers with amazing choreography and lavish sets.

Other new entertainment this year includes Via Romen featuring Ukranian violinist Arkadiy Gips, Russian Gypsy guitarist, Vadim Kolpakov,  Romani accordionist, Sergei Popa, and popular Russian vocalist Svetlana Portnyansky. Also new for 2014 is Spanish-inspired Festa de Espana with an interactive entertainment experience featuring living puppets, living statues, and street theatre.

IslandFireBack by popular demand is Island Fire, presenting traditional music and dance from the Polynesian paradise islands of Tahiti, Samoa, and Hawaii and a feature performance from World Fire Knife Champion Anelu Iakopo.  

 AmamosArgentinaOther acts returning for 2014 include Los Pampas Gauchos drummers and colorful folk dancers of Amamos Argentina, Ireland’s Premier Harpist and Grammy-winner, Dearbhail FinneganRobin Slater on silver flute and Irish bodhran, Ecuador Manta presenting traditional Andean music and Latin rhythms, and Alpine yodeler/instrumentalist Kerry Christensen.

When you are ready for some culinary delights, head down to the Frisco Barn for Tastes of the World, featuring an array of delicious entrees, desserts, and snacks with an international twist. Sample Caribbean Nachos with lime tortilla chips and spicy mango-pineapple chutney, Greek Antipasto Salad with feta cheese anda Mediterranean dressing, or a St. Patty’s Sandwich with slices of corned beef and shredded cabbage. Korean Tacos, Polynesian Calzone, TastesofWorldKielbasa Reuben, Chicken Yakisoba Pasta, Cherries Jubilee Crepes, and other options are also on the menu.

“Gator Queen” Liz Choate appearing at Cajun Days

“Gator Queen” Liz Choate, from the TV series Swamp People on the History Channel, to appear at Branson’s IMAX Entertainment Complex Cajun Days. The public will have the opportunity for autographs and photos.

The event is held in conjunction with the grand opening of Camo Country, the new store at the Imax complex and will also feature live Cajun music, live alligators, a crawfish boil, door prizes and lots of fun.

Camo Country is a licensed dealer for Swamp People and Duck Commander gift items.  When  Liz Choate was contacted about the possibility of attending, she says, “I’ve never been to Branson, but I’ve heard many good things from family and friends.  I am definitely looking forward to being there!”

The “Sons of Britches” Cajun band will perform from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. each day.  McFarlain’s Family Restaurant inside the IMAX complex will be servin’ up a genuine Cajun Crawfish Boil beginning at 1:00 p.m. each day for only $9.99 while supplies last. Live alligators provided by Branson’s Wild World will be on display each day.  And “Hurricane on the Bayou” is showing on the huge IMAX screen at 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. each day with a special admission price of only $6.00. Zipping in Branson Area

There are several ziplines in the Branson area offering a variety of experiences.

BransonZiplineBranson Zipline and Canopy Tour offers canopy tours, fast line, free fall express, and after-dark tours. Lots of combination options with up to eight ziplines, ten sky bridges, and a free fall line. Not just a zipline, they also have guided photo tours of Wolfe Creek Preserve and Gemstone Mining along with a gift shop.

Indian Point Zipline has a sitting harness trolley system that’s great for first-time zipriders. Six ziplines totaling 2700 feet. A short distance past Silver Dollar City theme park on Indian Point Road.

ZipatNightAdventure Ziplines of Branson  is the only zipline inside the Branson city limits and the only one in the area with a double cable system for extra safety. This course features seven ziplines and three rope bridges with options of daytime or nighttime zipping.

 ShepherdTower2inchThe Vigilante ZipRider at the Shepherd of the Hills Homestead launches from 170 feet up Inspiration Tower. The trademark ZipRider system gives you a seated thrill ride with no need to worry about controlling your position, speed, or starting/stopping. Just sit back and enjoy the ride at up to 50 mph.

Zipline USA is a bit further away from Branson but still within an easy drive for Branson visitors. This is a tree top canopy tour with cable lines up to 350 feet above the forest floor spanning distances from 500-3200 feet.

Independence Day Celebrations in Branson Not Limited to July 4

fireworksImagine watching the night skies light up with color while relaxing in your private hot tub! Several fireworks displays are planned in the Branson area, from June 30 through July 6, many of which will be visible from the decks at Cameron’s Crag Bed and Breakfast.

Honor America Day at College of the Ozarks starts off the festivities on June 30 with a picnic and live music on the lawn around Lake Honor beginning at 6:00 pm followed by a fireworks display at dusk. The campus is about one half mile from Cameron’s Crag.

Branson Landing’s 6th Annual Liberty Light Up Concert and Fireworks display is set for Wednesday, July 3. The celebration begins with an 8:00 pm concert with The Horn Dawgs in front of the Landing fountains. This amazing 11-piece horn band features several area entertainers including Bucky Heard of the Blues Brothers at Legends in Concert and Gary Myers, lead guitarist and Emcee for Mickey Gilley.  The Dawgs don’t just put on a great show, they give you a great EXPERIENCE.

Following the concert, enjoy an incredible fireworks exhibition produced by Gateway Fireworks Displays. From the choreographed opening to the Signature Grand Finale, the 6th Annual Liberty Light Up promises an unforgettable display.  AND…after the fireworks, stick around while The Horn Dawgs take the stage for an encore performance to end the evening.

On Thursday, July 4, Branson Landing and the Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks host the Firecracker 5000 and 10K.  A one-mile walk/run covering the Branson Landing is also an option for participants.

Crowd & FireworksActivities scheduled for Thursday, July 4 include a picnic, games, entertainment, pony rides, and fireworks at Big Cedar Lodge. Tickets and All-You-Can-Play wristbands available at the ticket booth starting at 2:00 pm. Wristbands $30. Entertainment by the Clay Self Band beginning at 7:00 pm followed by fireworks at dusk. For an extra special evening, make reservations aboard the custom 62′ yacht, Lady Liberty, for appetizers, dinner, drinks, and entertainment. Reservations required for the dinner cruise.

July 4 Festivities at Chateau on the Lake, include an outdoor BBQ, live music and fireworks. Other July 4 fireworks displays are scheduled at Silver Dollar City, Shepherd of the Hills Homestead, and downtown Hollister, and the city of Rockaway Beach. Most of these displays will be visible from the decks at Cameron’s Crag.

Independence Day activities are also planned at Copper Run Distillery. Come out for local food, games, live music on the lawn, spiked fruit, handcrafted drinks for adults and kids, small batch spirits, and more.

For some of the best seats in the house and a different perspective on evening fireworks displays, Main Street Lake Cruises offers two Fireworks Cruises aboard the luxury yacht, The Landing Princess. Choose a 1.5 hour cruise on July 3 in conjunction with the Branson Landing Liberty Light Up or a 2.5 hour cruise July 4 in time for the Rockaway Beach fireworks display.

Saturday, July 6 is Fireburst 2013 in Kimberling City, MO. Pre-event at Kimberling Shopping Center, live entertainment by The Missouri Boatride Bluegrass Band from 7-9 pm, and a spectacular fireworks display choreographed to music on 100.1 radio at 9:15.

Private hot tubs and chairs provided on the decks of Cameron’s Crag for our guests. Bring lawn chairs or blankets if you plan to watch the fireworks from another location.

Updates and Additions as of 6/27/13: 

Branson Landing Liberty Light Up on July 3 at the Branson Landing will be broadcast on KOZL 27. The program will preempt the regular 9:00 and 10:00 pm newscasts.

July 4 festivities in Rockaway Beach include fun and entertainment from 2pm – 10 pm with fireworks scheduled to begin at 9:30.

Branson Mill Craft Village will have music on their free performance stages, prize drawing, and special offers July 4-7. Tanger Outlet’s annual 4th of July Sidewalk Sale extends July 4-7, 9:00 am – 9:00 pm (10 am – 7 pm Sunday). The Shoppe’s at Branson Meadows is also having their July 4th Summer Sale July 4-7.

Rods and Relics at Branson Outback

Sponsored by The Rods and Relics Car Club of Springfield, one of the oldest street rod clubs in the United States, the 41st Annual Rods and Relics Rod Run at The Outback in Branson has been an annual event on Fathers Day weekend since 1973.  Only pre-1949 vehicles are eligible to join Rods and Relics.

The event features a show and shine open to the public on Saturday. Numerous activities are planned, including games, music, prizes, and more.

Late Show With David Letterman Stupid Human – Stupid Pet Tricks

Do you have a special talent, or a pet with unique training? Here’s your chance to show off that special ability!


Representatives from The Late Show with David Letterman will audition for Stupid Human and Stupid Pet Tricks on Saturday, June 15, 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, at the Branson Landing.

Participants have the chance for an all-expense paid trip to New York City to appear on the Late Show with David Letterman. Local CBS affiliate KOLR10 will host the event and Branson area businesses have contributed prizes for all participants, even if they are not selected to appear on TV.

Branson resident Matt Gumm was featured on the show in 2011 with his rendition of “Stars and Stripes Forever” on a bicycle pump.

This casting call is open to all ages. Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. The parent or legal guardian must chaperon and sign a release waiver. Participants will have the chance to be selected to perform their trick on the Late Show with David Letterman.

Participants must arrive at the casting call between the designated times. The casting call is based on a first come, first serve basis, so pre-registration will not guarantee an audition.   • Shepherd of the Hills Trout Hatchery - The largest trout production facility in the Missouri Department of Conservation trout production program, located just below Table Rock Dam at 483 Hatchery Road. Jerry Springer Hosts The Price is Right Live!

Beginning in May 2013, Jerry Springer will host “The Price is Right Live!” at Branson’s Welk Resort, the live version of TV’s longest running game show.

In addition to hosting “The Jerry Springer Show”, now in its 22nd season, Jerry Springer’s illustrious career has included Emmy award-winning newscaster, movie and Broadway appearances, talk-radio broadcaster, country recording artist, game show host, international emcee and TV personality, and mayor of Cincinnati.

Springer hosted NBC’s hit series “America’s Got Talent” in 2008 and 2009 and recently appeared on “Dancing With The Stars”.

Springer is thrilled to be hosting in Branson. “I am honored that ‘The Price is Right Live’ chose me as the special guest host for its stage show,” said Springer. “I have been a huge fan of the classic television game show for years, and have always wanted to yell, ‘Come on down!’ to an excited audience.” Springer has hosted this iconic live show in Las Vegas, Vancouver and in Atlantic City to record breaking crowds.
